What we do

Painting

Your existing doors, cleaned and primed, sprayed in a color chosen to match your individual style. Factory-smooth, no brush marks.

New Doors

Keep the cabinet bases and change out the doors, with modern shaker/flat panel or mini-shaker maple doors and drawer fronts.

Hardware & Accessories

We can install rollouts, spice racks, drawer inserts, trash pullouts — soft close hinges, pulls and knobs.

Cabinet Rescue

Peeling doors, brush marks, a finish that failed inside a year? Every third estimate I write is a rescue. Bring me the mess.

Cabinet Cheer

$9,000

Same kitchen, transformed

You don't see the cabinet boxes.

A client came to me with a $50,000 quote for new cabinets from a big-box store. I opened a door and looked at the boxes — the structure actually attached to her wall. Shelves flat. Frames square. Sides solid. Real plywood, the way they built them here in the eighties and nineties.

They were dated. They were not failing. Those are different things.

We put on new doors, painted them the color she'd been dreaming about, and changed the hardware. Around $9,000. Same kitchen, same footprint, same layout — completely different room.

$41,000

stayed in her pocket. A family trip. An emergency fund. A college account. The bathroom you also wanted done.

Here's the part nobody tells you: a minor kitchen remodel returns about 113% of its cost at resale — the strongest return of any interior renovation in the country. A major one recoups closer to 50%. The smaller, smarter project doesn't just cost less. It pays back more.

Lydia Marsh, colorist and owner of Cabinet Cheer, in a transformed kitchen

Lydia Marsh · Chief Cheer Officer

Meet Lydia

I'm Lydia Marsh, certified color consultant and experienced home renovator. I love meeting women in their homes and helping them refresh the spaces they love most — especially their kitchens.

I've learned that you don't always need a brand-new kitchen to make it feel brand new. Sometimes, the right color, fresh hardware and a little cheer can do the trick.

We've done more than 75 Austin kitchens and bathrooms in the last 18 months. Every home, every style and every budget is different — and that's my favorite part.

Cabinet Cheer is my passion, and my team is here to make the whole experience easy, positive and, dare I say, fun. Our goal? To have you cheering us on to your friends and family.

So let's add some color, potentially add new doors, update some hardware, and make your kitchen feel fresh, inviting and a little more you.

Let's get cheering.

Cheers,

Lydia Marsh

Four words. Four real standards.

They're on our shirts. It sounds simple — it's supposed to. Most things worth getting right are simple to say and hard to do.

The Prep step of the Cabinet Cheer process

Prep

The step homeowners never see, and pros never skip. Every door comes off. Every surface gets cleaned of years of cooking grease. Every floor and countertop gets protected. We caulk any significant gaps and apply a special wash before primer is applied.

The Prime step of the Cabinet Cheer process

Prime

The finish matters as much as the prep. We use cabinet bonding primer in the home and spray the doors in our workshop. Oak doors are primed twice — a second layer that fills the grain and gives us a smoother surface to finish.

The Paint step of the Cabinet Cheer process

Paint

Then we put the right paint to work. We use Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane in satin. We hand-paint the cabinet boxes in your home, carefully, without brush marks. Doors and drawers are sprayed in our workshop, where we can control the finish without disrupting your life.

The Perfect step of the Cabinet Cheer process

Perfect

And we don’t just put everything back and leave. Your doors and drawers come home in protective foam pouches, ready to install. We hang every door, adjust the hinges and hardware, and touch up where needed. Then we walk through the finished kitchen with you and leave clear instructions for keeping it looking its best.

Women Owned and Perfected. Who we are and what we do. We sweat the details, stand behind our work, and don’t stop until your kitchen looks the way we promised it would. That's worth cheering about.

What Austin says

"I highly recommend Cabinet Cheer for your kitchen or bathroom cabinet renovations. I had a great experience from design to installation. Lydia was very patient and helpful during the design stage, offering samples, color recommendations, and lots of patience. When it came time for install, I was so pleased with their streamlined and organized processes. I loved the all-women crew who came in and knocked it out. We had a huge kitchen and primary bath project and we replaced all the door and drawer fronts and painted everything. There was no upheaval or mess in those spaces. I am thrilled with the quality of cabinet doors and workmanship. I am so happy with the outcome."
— Pamela, Northwest Hills
"Cabinet Cheer completely transformed our kitchen! We had our existing cabinets professionally painted, and based on Lydia's recommendation the results are even better than we hoped for. The workmanship is beautiful, and the attention to detail really shows. Everything looks clean, smooth, and professionally finished. Lydia and her team were great to work with—professional, responsive, and careful with our home. We are absolutely thrilled with the transformation. Our kitchen looks like a completely different space, and we've received so many compliments. I highly recommend Lydia and Cabinet Cheer if you're considering painting your cabinets. They did an amazing job!"
— Sandy, Avery Ranch
"I have a brand new kitchen! My cabinets were dark and not in great condition. My kitchen was depressing. But now it is bright and beautiful. They did an amazing job of transforming my kitchen. The team are perfectionists. They paid attention to every detail. The quality of their products and work is above my expectations. The cost was very reasonable and worth every cent. Lydia was so helpful in choosing the right color and making suggestions. I feel so blessed to have found her and I couldn't be happier with the results. The experience was smooth and professional from start to finish. Their customer service and attention to the smallest detail is top notch."

Questions, honestly answered

Less than you're bracing for. A custom cabinet job typically runs about six times what we charge to transform the same kitchen — and that holds even against a semi-custom IKEA build-out, once you've added up design, doors, panels, counters and installation. Where yours lands depends on how many doors and drawers you have, whether we're painting your existing doors or replacing them, and the finish you choose. You'll get an exact number in writing after we've seen the kitchen — not a range that quietly grows later.

About 7-9 days for a typical kitchen. Roughly half of those is prep and priming — the part that decides whether your finish lasts ten years or ten months.

You lose your cabinet doors, not your kitchen. Every door and drawer front comes off and goes to our shop. Floors, counters and appliances are covered before anything else starts. You'll be cooking the whole time — you'll just be looking at open shelves for a few days.

Open a door and look at the box — the structure actually attached to your wall. Are the shelves flat? Frames square? Sides solid? In most Austin homes built in the eighties and nineties the answer is yes, because they were built with real plywood and solid face frames. Dated isn't the same as failing. If your boxes are sound, replacing them means spending five figures on the one part of the kitchen you'll never see.

Pro-grade enamel, sprayed, with full cure time between coats. But the paint isn't what makes it last. The primer is. The right bonding primer sprayed in controlled conditions is the difference between a decade and a season. That's why Prime is its own step and not a footnote.

Usually, yes. Peeling, brush marks, a finish that failed inside a year — it almost always traces back to prep and primer that got skipped. Send me a photo and I'll tell you whether it needs redoing or just repair.

Not ready for a visit? Send me a photo.

Wrestling with honey oak? Holding a quote you're not sure about? Send it to me. I'll tell you honestly what's worth doing and what's money down the drain — even if my answer is "that's a fair price, go for it," or "leave it alone, it's gorgeous."

No charge. No pitch. I'll get back to you within 24 hours.
